Alexander Bechtel

I am currently the Global Head of Digital Strategy, Products, and Solutions at DWS Group, where I focus on driving the digitalization of asset management, encompassing digital assets, digital distribution, and embedded finance. Prior to joining DWS, I served as Head of Digital Assets & Currencies Strategy at Deutsche Bank's Corporate Bank for over two years, where I played a role in shaping the bank's approach to blockchain, digital assets, and digital currencies.

Blockchain, digital assets, and digital currencies are central to my professional and academic pursuits. In addition to my role at DWS, I am an external lecturer at the University of St. Gallen and University of Neuchâtel. I completed a PhD in monetary economics at the University of St. Gallen, conducted research at Stanford University, and worked as an external consultant at the European Central Bank.

Since June 2019, I have been the co-host of Bitcoin, Fiat & Rock'n'Roll, a podcast on digital assets and currencies. Additionally, since October 2023, I have been writing a monthly column on crypto and digital assets for Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (FAZ).
